International Adoption: Pre-Adoptive Parent Training in Illinois
The Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) in Illinois requires that every adoptive parent receive a minimum of 4 hours of In-Person Prospective Parent Adoption Training.
The Training Session will cover important issues for parents to consider as they plan for an international adoption. The curriculum includes:
- Preparing for a Successful Adoption
- Process for Completing an Adoption
- Adoption as a Legal Process
- Understanding a Child’s Prior Experience and How They Effect Adoptive Placements
- Medical Risks
- Attachment Issues
- Openness as a Continuum in Adoption
- Special Issues in Adoption
- Issues Specific to a Child’s Special Needs

ALL Training Sessions are from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Rochester training is with Misty Lucas (Illinois office). Additional hours of in person training hours are available on these dates if previously arranged with Misty Lucas.
Cost:
FREE for Madison Adoption Associates clients that have already paid for MAA’s Hague Training (CAF)
$100 for Madison Adoption Associates clients (per family) that have NOT paid for MAA’s Hague Training (CAF)
$150 per session for clients (per family) from other agencies.
Single applicants are welcome to bring a support person.
All registrations are required at least a week in advance with Misty Lucas in Rochester at (217) 498-9700 or Misty@MadisonAdoption.org. Please have all payments sent into the office a week ahead of time.
If a Prospective Parent requests an individual training session, the fee is double and the training will only be held in the Madison Adoption Associates office.
