Katie Brabson joined MAA in 2010 as a Social Worker. She is thrilled to walk with families as they journey through the home study process and especially enjoys celebrating with them upon its completion. She is privileged to work with so many families that have opened up their hearts to the orphans of the world and finds joy in knowing she was a small part of the homecoming!
Katie graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Social Work from Olivet Nazarene University where she had been pursuing an alternative degree. One conversation with a social work professor prompted her to change courses and pursue social work full time, a decision she has never regretted. In 2006 she graduated from Illinois State University with a Master Degree in Social Work and has had many years in the fields of child welfare and adoption.
Working from home, Katie is a full time Momma and Homeschool teacher to two wild boys. Adoption became incredibly personal to Katie in 2006 when she and her husband adopted their first child from Ethiopia, Africa. In 2009 their second child was born. The Brabson family continues to grow, with the addition of LingLing from China, and the birth of Charlie. The house will only get messier and louder, but that is all the more joy to Katie.
Katie has worked in Romania and Ethiopia, and traveled extensively around the globe. She brings adoption experience, professional and personal consultation for multicultural and multiracial families, and a large world view to her work with MAA.
